Sabin Compact Urban Backyard

The Sabin neighborhood is a gem of a place close to NE Portland with excellent access to the amenities of the Williams-Mississippi corridor. What the residents there gain in proximity they might give up in square footage in their backyard. Not to worry though. A compact backyard might require a little more thought from a design perspective, but that does not mean that it has to be a less appealing or relaxing environment.

The Grasstains design team transformed this urban wild place into a relaxing haven with a little bit of something for everyone in the family, including a fire pit with a low-maintenance aggregate surround for family gatherings, some fancy carpentry to hang a fab hammock in the absence of large trees and a compact swatch of synthetic grass for some puttering about. Enclose that in a nifty new fence and some refreshed fir bark to keep it all under wraps and there you have it.
