Bark Dust Installation & Refresh

The finishing touch on a freshly planted yard is bark dust. Once weeds and spent plants have been removed, and new bulbs, shrubs, plants, and trees are installed, it’s time to add a layer of protection. 

Bark dust has many valuable purposes. It helps reduce weed growth, protects topsoil from washing away in heavy rain, helps retain soil moisture during dry spells, and in cooler weather, it actually keeps the underlying soil warmer protecting fragile roots from freezing. Outside of its protective properties, bark dust just makes plant beds look more polished. Who knew so much could come from just a bit of ground-up bark?
