Sometimes good old-fashioned concrete is the perfect solution to a landscaping dilemma. Concrete is relatively inexpensive, long-lasting, and can be put into practically any form. Steps, sidewalks, driveways, and patio floors are often concrete for the very reason that concrete is strong and holds up well.

But if you want something more than a wide swath of gray, today’s concrete can be etched, stenciled, turned into blocks for a tiled effect, and can come in almost any color. Concrete can also be inlaid with different materials, like pieces of glass, ceramic, or even mirrors, to give it a more modern and unique look. The limits on how concrete can add spice to your landscape are really only dictated by how wild your imagination can be.
